New Patients

For anyone that has never experienced the Traditional Healing Arts, Welcome. Congratulations on taking the first step in the natural healing process. You are about to join millions of people, who for thousands of years, have counted on this medicine not only for acute pains and illnesses, but also to prevent illness and keep them healthy.

To help save you time, please download the New Patient Form (here) and fill it in at your convenience. Please bring this form, along with your most recent Blood Chemistries, Lab Reports or any Imaging Information you may have to your first appointment. You may also bring a list of Medications, Supplements, Vitamins and Herbs. If you need to fill out forms in the office, please allow at least thirty minutes to complete them. Click (here) for information regarding your Blood Chemistries and Labs.

Intake & Assessment

As a new patient, your initial visit will last anywhere from ninety minutes to two hours. During this comprehensive consultation, we will assess your Primary Complaints and Concerns and review your Health History. The information you provided on the forms (and in labs) will be used to guide our efforts in determining the Underlying Root Cause of your concerns, in addition to relieving primary symptoms. In addition to the information you provide, I will also get information you cannot provide by looking at your tongue, and palpating various pulses, points or channels.

We will talk about a course of treatment, what you can expect, and I will answer any questions you might have about your case or Traditional Chinese Medicine or Blood Chemistries. I encourage questions as well as taking an Active Role in your Healing Process. For Facial Rejuvenation patients, please arrive without makeup and with a freshly washed face, if at all possible.

Treatment

Acupuncture points will be selected based on your diagnosis, and are typically inserted on the arms and legs, below the elbows and knees. Points on the abdomen, head and ear may also be incorporated, as we develop a treatment for the Primary Complaint as well as the Root cause of your complaint. As you heal, your treatments will reflect your change and different points will be used.

I take honor in selecting the points I use - they have been used for thousands of years, and sometimes all it takes is one needle or one treatment.

As the needles are placed, patients often express a numbing, tingling, warming, or radiating sensation. I try to accommodate the most sensitive patients, but certain points are more sensitive than others. The sensation you feel in the beginning will typically fade within minutes, and most patients enter into a deep state of relaxation or sleep. Treatments typically last an hour, and as gently as you went to sleep you will naturally feel your treatment coming to an end, your eyes will naturally open and you will know you are done.

Post Treatment

Please do not rush, take your time getting up from the treatment table. Depending on the nature of the treatment, some patients feel awake and enlivened, while others feel sensations of euphoria and bliss, and yet others are more relaxed or tired. What you feel will be unique to you and may not be the same for everyone.

If it was determined through diagnosis that you would benefit from one of the other techniques commonly used in Chinese Medicine, for example Cupping, Gua Sha or Auricular Acupuncture, this will be performed at the end of the Needle Treatment.

thank you
